The weather was amazing, letting us all head over to the beach toget some heart warming photo's of the two in love. The love the pair shared shined in every photo, and the fun nature of their relationship was captured in some great forever moments.

We wish you the best in the love and partnership that is your future.

After some family photos at the church the couple were whisked away on quick helicopter flight to The Glades in Robina for photos. Amidst the rain and wind we were able to capture some truly precious moments even using the pathways of puddles to our advantage.

The beautiful and family focused union brought a tear to most's eyes, the love shining clear.

The sun was bright, and the bridal party full of fun and laughter as we made our way onto the course to watch Kim and Francis share their love. 

It was great to work with Geoff of Motion Art again, a great cinematographer and share the day with such a relaxed, lovely couple. 

Thank you for being a blessing to work with, and allowing us to share in your love. 

Having worked with this fun, young and very much in love couple previously on an engagement shoot both of us were excited to capture their day for them.

The ceremony was beautiful, filled with loving friends and family, and the couple were so in love it shined through to everyone. Then off we headed on our golf carts to captures some of the amazing images I have included below.

A big thank you to Robina Woods! We work a lot with them, and their service to us and more importantly the bride and groom, is excellent.

Congratulations once again Jemma and Shayne. May your future be blessed with so many more beautiful memories then the one's we captured.

Something we both share, a passion of catching and recreating, that cheesecake and glamour of a time gone by, in the modern women.

Just recently Derek had the pleasure of being a judge at the Gold Coast Hot Rod Pinup Girl Competition. We had agreed to give the winner and runner up a photoshoot, but the girls were so amazing we gave the third place draw girls Chantelle and Jodie a shoot as well. 

Giverny was the winner with Chi Chi a close second.

So with Kat from My Little Rockabilly doing hair and makeup we had a full and fun house. Kaelem enjoyed getting to chat with all the ladies while we worked, and like always i felt like the ladies left comfortable and happy with the way the day had gone! 

I have included some (with a lot more to come) of the edited photos we have from the day, which we have only just began. A lot of love and 'restoration' is put into each image to make sure the girls personality and uniqueness shines through.

Radio's soon told us that roads were closing on Mount Tamborine. So bags were quickly packed and we were off an hour and half earlier then we normally would. Bridges were over flowing, land slides were happening, but we kept trying until we FINALLY got to the lovely couple at Pether's Retreat. 

The Bride and Groom were amazing, braving the rain to capture their images, with no concern for the dress or the make up, the whole wedding party jumped out in the rainfall to get some amazing images. 

The ceremony was beautiful with a lively and fun group to give them a big cheer when the I DO's rang in. 

The smiles stayed on the whole wedding parties faces regardless of the leeches, mud and road trips in the mist. We had a great time, and were truly blessed to capture the great day that was had by everyone present. 

What an amazing couple, with an amazing life, full of a lot more adventures ahead of them.

Amongst all this bad weather we had a wedding where once again, bad weather was predicted. But to everyone's joy we had sunshine and lovely filtered light to capture the magic that is the love between Nikki and Talon.

With a small, intimate party of 6 including the bride and groom we started the journey with a 'wet' boat ride over to the island, only to be greeted with an amazing setting on the sand.

Our job was made so much easier by having such a fun and willing bunch of friends and family who were more then happy to leap into the air, and a bride who had no complaint about climbing a tree and getting a bit dirty.

This logic kind of makes sense until you follow it through to the rest of your wedding... You probably wouldn't ask guests to bring a plate to the reception and cancel the catering, or hand pick your bouquet from your neighbours flower garden.

Your wedding will be one of the most precious days of your life. And once the flowers have faded, cake is eaten and dress is packed away your photos and video are all you have to remember the big day by. Who do you trust more to capture the beauty and emotions of the day? A professional who specialises in capturing these moments or a guest whose real job is to celebrate with you and friends?

The team at Derek Smith Wedding Photography and I have spent countless hours honing our craft and learning the intricacies of the gear we use. Despite best intentions unless your 'uncle/friend' is a full-time professional photographer they simply can't have put in the leg work to ensure your photos are priceless keepsakes for yourself and future generations.

Nowadays it is all to common for me to receive a call after the wedding day from a devastated bride saying 'a friend shot my wedding and it was terrible, we're no longer on speaking terms because the photos are so bad'. It's really sad getting calls like and I wouldn't wish this on any bride.

I think the author John Ruskin summed it up best over 100 years ago when he said...

It is unwise to pay too much, but it is worse to pay too little.

When you pay too much you lose a little money. That is all.
When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the
thing that you bought was incapable of doing the thing that you bought it to do!

The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot.
It cannot be done. And if you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add
something for the risk that you run. And if you do that, you will have enough
to pay for something better.

There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little
worse and sell a little cheaper. And the people, who consider price alone,
